Newport Dinner Train ,Rhode Island

Rhode Island (RI) offers railfans two heritage railway and the first one is Newport Dinner Train.

They offers a 22 miles trip which takes app. 2 hours and 30 minutes time.Dinner is Servered on train.Rates are less than 55$ per person on each trip.

Very close to people living in Boston,New Bedford / Cape Cod / Eastern Massachusetts,New York

Iceland Railway and Trains

Iceland Does not seems to have any Public railway network OR any Heritage railway line as on 2009 through some talks are there about a proposed Reykjavík to Keflavík airport railway line.

In past there existed 3 railway lines in Iceland.
Reykjavik Harbour Railway - Operated in early last century and You can see its preserved locomotives at Árbaer open air museum,Reykjavík.

Kárahnjúkar hydropower project railway - Operated for few years in early of this century.Closed now

Korpúlfsstaðir Farm Railway - Very Few information is available on this railway which seems to be operated in early 1930's

Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad

ANother Heritage railway in Duluth(Minnesota) popularly knolwn as LSMR runs between Twin Cities and Downtown Duluth passing through St. Louis River estuary,Spirit Lake and Mud Lake.

Days of Operation: Only on weekends.Saturday & Sunday only
10:30 AM and 1:30 PM

North Shore Scenic Railroad - Minnesota

North Shore Scenic Railroad popularly Known as NSSR is a heritage railroad in Duluth,Lake Superior.
Its very Popular railway line with over 50000 visitors reported to take the ride in 2007.
Season : The trains operates during only may 23rd to October 17th each year.

NSSR Train Route:It Departs from Union Depot,passing trough Owens,downtown Duluth, Canal Park,Two Harbors through Lake Superior shore.Its appx. 26 miles route

  • Two Harbors Train
  • Pizza Train

A train also operates on the day of Grandma's Marathon along the route of Marathon.

1)The Empire Builder which is operated by Amtrak which covers following stations in the state

2)Hiawatha Line - Operates in Hennepin County between Minneapolis to Bloomington

1880 Train and Passenger Train Services in South dakota

South Dakota(SD) does not have any major passenger Railroad System.Last Known major passenger train in the state was in 1971.Only Trains services I found is 1880 Train.The 1880Train is run by Blackhills central railroad company and run regular trains between keystone and Hill city in Western SD.They operate a two hour and fifteen minute round trip(preserved steam locomotives) through the beautiful Black Hills and is very famous among Tourist as it give very comfortable round trip to beauty of SD.
South dakota is only couple of main land USA which is not covered by amtrak.

They also operate special tours like wine express,Holiday express,Fright Train etc...
